| About the PhotographEratic
‘The Three Peaks’ of the Yorkshire Dales, Whernside Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent are well known and easily recognisable by their distinctive profiles. A walk linking the summits of these three peaks forms an arduous challenge, crossing some of the wildest terrain in the dales. On the southern approaches of Whernside, above Twistleton Scar, there is an area of limestone pavement, exposed and shattered by the elements and the passage of time. This area is almost lunar. Scattered randomly on the landscape, strange boulders stand isolated like alien sentinels. Left by the passing of the ice age, these ancient rocks are known as ‘Erratics’.
